EMI Publishing Promotes Two Execs


LONDON (Hypebot) – EMI Music Publishing has promoted two insiders to new roles within its NY based licensing division.

Kristin Durie is now VP of Music Services & Licensing. See will manage EMI Publishing’s relationship with the major TV networks, and work with the company’s Film & Soundtrack unit in LA.

Jovanka Ciares has been promoted to Senior Director of Music Services & Licensing, with overall responsibility for EMI Publishing’s activities in merchandising and its relationships with key US advertising agencies.

Kristin Durie has worked for EMI Music Publishing for the last eleven years, having begun her career as an intern in 1997. Having earned several promotions during her time with the company, she was last year appointed to the role of Senior Director of Music Services Licensing. Kristin has been responsible for strengthening EMI Music Publishing’s relationships with the major networks, cable companies, and music supervisors, providing a series of additional licensing opportunities for EMI writers. She is a graduate of New York University, and has a bachelors degree in music.

Jovanka Ciares began her career at the company in 2001, joining as a manager in EMI Music Publishing’s print and administrative services division. She was promoted to Director of Music Services Licensing in 2007, and has been working with major merchandising clients including Hasbro, Hallmark and American Greetings. She has a masters degree in music business from New York University, as well as a bachelors degree in music and communications from the University of Puerto Rico.

EMI Music Publishing’s 1.3 million copyrights include some of the best-known songs ever written, such as “New York New York”, “You’ve Got A Friend”, “The James Bond Theme”, “Lady Marmalade”, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”, “Always On My Mind”, “Over The Rainbow”, “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” and “Singin’ In the Rain”. Its current hit-making writers and producers include Arctic Monkeys, Beyoncé, James Blunt, Alan Jackson, Norah Jones, Alicia Keys, Pink, Usher, Kanye West, Pharrell Williams and Amy Winehouse.
