Federal Court Rules Panel Of Judges To Hear Sharman Networks' Appeal Against Anton Piller Order

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Federal Court of Australia ruled on April 16 that a panel of three judges will be appointed to hear an application for leave to appeal by Sharman Networks in relation to the recent granting of an Anton Piller order to the Australian recording industry.

In his judgment, Justice Tamberlin also ordered that the application for leave to appeal be expedited. It is expected the court will set dates shortly to hear the application for leave to appeal.

Commenting on the decision, Sharman Networks' legal team said: "We look forward to the opportunity to proceed with the appeal in the Full Federal Court."

Sharman Networks' CEO Nikki Hemming said: "Ultimately, this litigation is about standing up for the right for peer-to-peer technology to exist as a legitimate model for the digital distribution and marketing of content." –Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
