LONDON, UK (CelebrityAccess) — The First Direct Arena in Leeds has been voted ‘New Venue of the Year’ at the Stadium Business Awards in London.
First Direct Arena beat out a list of nominees that included the new Olympic Stadium in Sochi, the SSE Hydro in Glasgow and the Allianz Riviera stadium in Nice.
Located in downtown Leeds, the 13,000 capacity, SMG-managed arena first opened its doors in September 2013 with performances by Bruce Springsteen and Sir Elton John and has since hosted a variety of major entertainment and sports events, including the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year. – Staff Writers
