George Strait To Be Honored With CRB Career Achievement Award

NASHVILLE TN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — George Strait has been named as the recipient for the 2013 Country Radio Broadcasters, Inc. Career Achievement Award, which will be given at the Country Radio Hall of Fame Induction on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 6 p.m.

Strait, sometimes called the King of Country, has a career that spans more than 30 years and has more #1 singles under his belt than any artist in history including Elvis Presley. Over the course of his career, Strait has sold more than 69 million records with 33 albums going platinum or multi-platinum, giving him more RIAA platinum certifications than any other country artist.

Strait announced last year that he was planning his final tour, which will run through dates 21 in 2013, then 20 more in 2014 when it winds down. Strait said that he plans to continue to record and make occasional live appearances, however.

Other artists being inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame include Gaylan Christie, as well as broadcasters Dr. Don Carpenter, Crook & Chase, Eddie Edwards and Bill “Dex” Poindexter. Bob Romeo will receive the 2013 Presidents’ Award. The Country Radio Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony unofficially kicks off Country Radio Seminar each year. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
