Giddings' Solo Agency Goes Solo Again

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — As the 5-year contract between Live Nation / Clear Channel Entertainment and John Giddings’ Solo Music Agency & Promotion came to a close with the end of 2005, neither had plans to renew, but neither expects that will change their working relationship.

“We have a very good relationship, and have a strategic alliance going forward to work together on a lot of projects,” Giddings told CelebrityAccess. “It should benefit us both.”

Giddings, who represents blockbuster artists such as The Rolling Stones and U2, will continue working closely with Live Nation to produce the “A Bigger Bang” and “Vertigo” tours.

“I respect both Michael Rapino and Arthur Fogel very highly, and appreciate our working partnership,” Giddings explained.

Solo first came into the SFX fold as a result of a string of business moves in the mid-1990s. Clear Channel’s buyout of SFX Entertainment brought Giddings together with many CCE executives to form one of the most powerful and creative teams in the music industry.

“We have a strategic relationship with John going forward as exclusive touring partner with all our global tours,” Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino told CelebrityAccess. “He will still actively work on our tours so not much has changed – other then we don't participate in his core agency business.”

Giddings said that he has no plans to pursue any additional corporate relationships for Solo, and will remain independent for the time being, with his business plan being: “To stay in business.”

Aside from the Rolling Stones and U2, Giddings represents a wide variety of the world’s top artists, including Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Celine Dion, Phil Collins, Simple Minds, Rod Stewart, Il Divo, and Madonna.
