Gloria Gaynor Gets Awards 26 Years Later

When an award winner is not present at an awards ceremony, sometimes the award is accepted in that person's name and then given to the winner at a later date. How about 26 years later!

In 1975, Gloria Gaynor won "female artist of the year" from Nightcall magazine. In her absence, the award was accepted by Tom Moulton, who mixed her first three albums.

Cut to July 24, 2001: Her award was finally presented to her at Shine, a Soho nightclub in New York. "I thought it was time I gave to her," he told the New York Times. Incidentally, the magazine is no longer publishing.
