The GTE Virginia Beach Amphitheater has gone wireless. The venue is now sporting the Verizon Wireless Virginia Beach Amphitheater name after becoming part of the Verizon family when the company merged with Bell Atlantic and AirTouch PLC last year. GTE purchased the naming rights in 1996 when the facility opened.
The amphitheater expects to have 32 to 37 dates booked this season. Among those already announced are Brooks and Dunn's Neon Circus and Wild West Show; James Taylor; Styx/ Bad Company/Billy Squier; and Journey/Peter Frampton/John Waite.
