Hallé Orchestra Takes The Radiohead Approach

MANCHESTER, UK (CelebrityAccess) — In an effort to reach new audiences, The Hallé Orchestra in Manchester, England is looking to shake up the tradition of buying concert tickets to events and will instead, ask the audience to pay what they think is fair at the end of the show.

The concert, called "Priceless Classics" is set for Sept. 6th, has been attached to the Twitter hashtag #PayWhatYouLike. Organizers hope that it will help to attract a younger audience than the usual demographic for classical music.

The concert will also eschew the formality that is traditionally associated with such concerts.

"You can have a drink. You can go to the loo. The whole point is that people don't need to feel constrained by the normal concert etiquette," Hallé's chief John Summers told the BBC. – Staff Writers
