Hi-Fi Festival Axed For 2007

LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Annual U.K. dance festival Hi-Fi will not return in 2007, according to organizers Mean Fiddler Group and dance promoters Angel Music Group.

The festival, which ran under the name Homelands from 1999 to 2005, was staged in 2006 in both Winchester in southern England and Newcastle upon Tyne in northern England.

Poor ticket sales to last year’s event, which featured popular acts such as Ian Brown, Hard Fi, Lemon Jelly, Paul Oakenfold and Carl Cox, have been blamed for this year’s cancellation.

Angel Music Group told Billboard.biz that they cancelled Hi-Fi to concentrate on the Global Gathering, the U.K.’s largest dance weekend with a capacity of 50,000. This year’s event takes place near Stratford upon Avon on July 27 and 28. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
