HIGH POINT, North Carolina (CelebrityAccess) — High Point University announced plans to expand their campus with the addition of a new basketball arena and conference center as part of a $160 million expansion.
According to the High Point Enterprise, the $70 million facility will include a 5,000-seat arena that will serve as a "venue for major ceremonial events, speakers, concerts, entertainment, other large gatherings and recreational activities.”
The school is currently finalizing the siting for the new facility and is expected to begin construction during the 2018-2019 academic year.
“This will bring us to a whole new level of excellence,” HPU President Nido Qubein said the High Point Convention & Visitors Bureau annual meeting. “The university’s success can be replicated all across this city if we move forward together. High Point must differentiate itself.” – Staff Writers
