Hob Boston Set To Fly

BOSTON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The newest House of Blues is set to launch in Boston on February 20th at the Landsdowne street address formerly occupied by the Avalon & Axis nightclubs.

The new HoB will encompass 53,000-square-foot and include a 2,400 capacity music hall, a restaurant, a VIP lounge and a gift shop for the merchandise-inclined.

The opening will mark a return to New England for the music chain, which first opened doors in Boston's Harvard Square in 1992 and remained there until it closed in 2003.

The new HoB is expected to help to revitalize Boston's live music scene which has seen a downturn since the closing of Avalon and Axis with the Wilbur Theatre, The Orpheum (booked by Live Nation) and the nightclub The Roxy being the primary live music outlets in the market.

"It's going to be the busiest place that's ever been at that location," Don Law, president of Live Nation New England told the Boston Globe. "Avalon and Axis were doing between 100 and 125 shows a year, but House of Blues could do nearly double that, closer to 300."

The new HoB is set to launch on Feb 20 with a show by The Gipsy Kings. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
