Hootie and the Blowfish Cancel NY Roseland Show Rather Than Cross Picket Line

(CelebrityAccess News Service) — Hootie and the Blowfish canceled its July 24 show at New York City's Roseland Ballroom. "Due to ongoing local labor disputes, Hootie &the Blowfish regret to inform our fans that our show at the Roseland has been postponed until further notice," the band posted on its website. "We are extremely disappointed that we won't be performing tonight, but we are not willing to cross a picket line made up of people we work with on a daily basis. "We expect to reschedule the show in the near future when circumstances are more favorable, and we look forward to returning to play for our NY fans."

Big Head Todd and the Monsters was the opening act and also did not cross the picket line.

The next concert scheduled for Roseland is the Joe Jackson Band on August 12. Roseland is a Clear Channel Entertainment venue. — by Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
