How To Pretend You're At SXSW

AUSTIN, TX (Hypebot) – Perhaps you or your boss are cutting back because of the economy or maybe you jblew your yearly travel budget with a trip to MIDEM. Either way, you can't afford to SXSW this year. Still don't want to miss all of the action…or maybe you just want to sound like you jetted into Texas for a few hours? There is hope.

  • The best tool for acting like you actually know what's going at SXSW may be LP33.tv, the on demand music tv site. They're launching an extensive SXSW channel with news, live performances, music videos, hour by hour video blogs and more. "I saw you in right up at the front of the stage during that Lee Boys gig, didn't I?"
  • You can listen to music by the 1800 bands playing over the four days of SXSW thanks to imeem. There launched the Ultimate Guide To SXSW or you can browse by the day that they're playing (Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, and Day 4). Then drag and drop bands onto a custom imeem playlist and embed it on your blog under a tricky title like "Bands I Loves From SXSW '09".
  • No one can track where you are when you call from your cell phone. "Nah, that line was too long. I'll try to catch up with you later."
  • Post SXSW: Print out the official schedules and maps. Crumple them up, sit and spill a little beer on them. Then leave them around your apartment during the week after the conference.
