Hultsfred Festival Canceled, Rockparty Declares Bankruptcy

HULTSFRED, Sweden (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — A scant week before the gates were set to open, organizers for the iconic Swedish festival Hultsfred have been forced to canceled the event, citing poor ticket sales.

The 25th installment of the festival was set to take place from July 7-9 with a lineup that featured performances by Scissor Sisters, Erykah Badu, Deftones, The Hives, The Ting Tings, and Empire of the Sun, among others.

Festival organizers had been anticipating breaking even until this week, but continued poor ticket sales put the kibosh on those hopes.

Swedish news sources are also reporting that the event's organizers Rockparty has also filed for bankruptcy. Ticket refunds will be dependent on the results of bankruptcy administration.

"To set[cancel] this year's festival has been a very hard decision to make, but it was the most responsible thing we can do in this situation" read a post on the festival's website.

Nearby festival Rock Weekend has thrown disappointed Hultsfred ticket holders a bone and offered them admission to Rock Weekend with a Hultsfred ticket. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
