I.M.P. Announces Opening Date For New D.C. Club

WASHINGTON D.C. (CelebrityAccess) — Bethesda-based independent concert promoter I.M.P., operators of Washington D.C.'s 9:30 Club, announced they are opening The Anthem, a major new concert venue in the city.

Located in the city's southwestern quadrant as part of The Wharf, a real estate development by PN Hoffman and Madison Marquette, the Anthem will feature a flexible capacity of up to 6,000 with moveable stages and backdrops.

I.M.P. has named Dori Armor to serve as general manager of the new club, with oversight of day-to-day operations, staff, liaison with promoters and rentals, and represent the venue with local arts organizations, I.M.P. said. Armor spent 30 years in the music industry as an agent, artist manager, venue manager, programmer, presenter, and producer with The Touring Artists Group, The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, The Mann Center for the Performing Arts, Broadway Across America, and most recently as V.P. of Artists and Touring at IMG Artists.

Melanie Cantwell, I.M.P. veteran and talent buyer for the 9:30 Club and the Lincoln Theatre, has been named to book The Anthem.

I.M.P. anticipates that the club will open its doors on October 12th. – Staff Writers
