Iceland Airwaves Acts Announced

REYKJAVIK, Iceland (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Iceland Airwaves festival has announced a string of line up additions for the 2006, set for various venues around Reykjavik’s city center on October 18-22.

Headliners the Kaiser Chiefs and Wolf Parade will be joined by 130 other acts, including The Cribs, Islands, Whomadewho, The Fields, and Cold War Kids.

The Iceland Airwaves festival is known for stressing the intimacy of the clubs and an overall party spirit. Since the first show held in 1999, as a one off event in an airplane hanger, Iceland Airwaves has become one of the premier showcases for new music in the world.

The festival takes place in seven main venues in Reykjavik, with capacity ranging from 100-800 people. Recent press has called the festival “the most innovative music festival since CMJ” and “as responsible for all of Reykjavik’s recent positive press as Björk herself.” –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
