IODA Touts 5 European Deals On Eve Of Popkomm

SAN FRANCISCO (Hypebot) – Digital distributor IODA has added five European companies to its D3 digital distribution service: Discograph, Forte Music Distribution, Harmonia Mundi Distribution, Cobayn and the Music Information Center Austria (MICA). These new partnerships add 85 labels to IODA’s catalog.

IODA’s D3 platform provides a low cost solution for physical music distributors to offer digital services. Distributors receive a custom branded implementation of IODA's Rightsholder Dashboard tools and distribution platform while maintaining their direct label relationships and have access to Promonet, the company’s digital marketing platform.

The announcement comes in advance of the Popkomm 2008 conference this week in Berlin, Germany where IODA’s CEO Kevin Arnold will be speaking. Expect more news from Berlin as the week progresses and other music companies use the conference to announce new initiatives and partnerships.

From the press release :

“IODA is an efficient and reliable partner, with a dynamic and flexible staff. We are extremely satisfied with our collaboration with IODA for the Harmonia Mundi catalogue and therefore we have decided to extend our strategic partnership to all our distributed labels,” said Jean-Baptiste Rivail, VP of International, Harmonia Mundi.

“Our partnership with IODA enables us to make independent French labels available on digital retailer sites worldwide. We expect our digital strategy will help us double our revenue in the next year and IODA is integral to us realizing that growth opportunity,” commented Olivier Lacourt, owner of Discograph. “IODA’s Rightsholder Dashboard provides an easy to use system whereby our labels can track sales, edit metadata, and choose how content will be distributed and marketed. This platform will make our labels more productive, better informed and far more successful.”

“Forte continues to maintain its strong retail relationships in Europe while also increasing our focus on digital distribution. Working with IODA fills an important gap, enabling us to expand our reach to countries around the world with a highly scalable, yet easy to use platform,” commented Simon Keeler, founder and CEO of Forte Music Distribution. “We were excited about IODA’s distribution services given their credibility as the best in the industry and are now equally eager to realize the potential of IODA’s marketing capabilities. We expect the company’s unique Promonet network will be integral to growing awareness and sales worldwide.”

“Discograph, Forte Music Distribution, Harmonia Mundi Distribution, Cobayn and MICA are just the kind of distributors we like to work with as they share our passion for finding quality music and bringing it to the world,” commented Erik Gilbert, IODA’s VP of Content. “It is this spirit and passion that drives the independent music industry and converts deep-rooted enthusiasm into solid sales. Our growth in Europe is exciting because it makes world-class music available to fans everywhere. Cross cultural music discovery is what digital distribution is all about.”

Discograph is the fourth largest independent distributor, label and publisher in France. Founded 10 years ago, Discograph continues to grow as a result of careful esthetic and musical choices, and transparent and human relationships with its artists and music fans. Discograph has produced, published or distributed artists such as Gotan Project, Cocoon, Nouvelle Vague, Brisa Roché, Coralie Clément, Stuck in the Sound, AaRON and Sébastien Tellier.
