Irving Azoff, MSG, Live Nation Partnering In New Vegas Arena

LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess) — The Madison Square Garden Company and Irving Azoff, chairman/CEO of Azoff Madison Square Garden Entertainment are teaming up with the Las Vegas Sands Corp. to develop a new arena in Las Vegas.

According to Billboard, the 17,500-capacity venue will be privately funded and owned by MSG, and will be purpose-built for music and other non-sports entertainment offerings.

To be located at on Sands Avenue between Manhattan Street and Koval Lane, the 400,000 square-foot venue will feature scalable seating with support for production intensive tours. The venue will be “like the Forum on steroids,” Azoff told Billboard.

Also participating in the arena project is Live Nation, who may prove to be a key partner in securing talent for the location. Las Vegas is an increasingly competitive market with numerous similar-sized rooms, including tbe MGM Grand Garden Arena, Thomas & Mack Center, The T-Mobile Arena and The Events Center at Mandalay Bay.

“I don’t worry about the other four [arenas],” Azoff told Billboard. “I just know we’re going to build the greatest place in the world for acts, they are going to want to play there.”

“By working with the best team in the business, we have no doubt that this new venue will raise the bar for the live experience in Las Vegas,” Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino said about the new arena. – Staff Writers
