Jackson Browne Expands His Inside Recordings Indie Label

(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) —

Jackson Browne and his longtime management team, Donald "Buddha" Miller and Cree Clover Miller, are making a major expansion of Inside Recordings, the independent label Browne founded in 1999. Significant in taking Inside to the next level is its just-finalized direct deal with independent music distributor Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA) for nationwide distribution. Previous Inside titles have been released via pass-through deals. Going direct with ADA allows Browne's vision of creating a haven for music that might not find a home in the mainstream to be more fully realized.

"Inside Recordings is really an extension of the management effort, and the desire to have the music represented as unique," said Browne. "This is a momentous time in the history of the music business. We're thrilled to be with ADA, and we're looking forward to the opportunities afforded by the movement towards greater independence through artist controlled labels."

Inside's inaugural release under ADA's aegis will be Jackson Browne's forthcoming album "Jackson Browne – Solo Acoustic, Vol. 1," due in stores on October 11. Presenting twelve songs culled from Browne's extensive and critically acclaimed solo acoustic concerts around the world over the past few years, the disc also captures both spirited and humorous exchanges between Jackson and his audiences, making for a truly intimate listening experience. This new compilation, produced by Jackson Browne and Paul Dieter, is his first live release since his 1977 multi-platinum album "Running On Empty."

"Jackson Browne – Solo Acoustic, Vol. 1" also marks the recording debut of a song more than three decades old, "The Birds Of St. Marks," not previously released in any form. Featuring solo performances on both guitar and piano, the track listing reaches back to Browne's early years with "These Days" and "Take It Easy" and spans his entire career with other highlights including "Fountain Of Sorrow," "For Everyman," "The Pretender" and "Looking East." A live version of "Lives In The Balance," the title track from Jackson's powerful 1986 album, will be the new album's lead single.

To help them launch this new phase of Inside Recordings as they go direct with ADA and grow exponentially, Jackson's management team has partnered with Fred Croshal (former Maverick Records GM) and Croshal Entertainment to oversee general management responsibilities, Rocket Science, under the direction of Kevin Day, will lead strategic sales and marketing initiatives, and CO5 have signed on as Inside's national radio promotion field staff. Michael Jensen and Meghan Helsel of Jensen Communications, Inc., long associated with Jackson Browne, will handle all press, media and public relations.

Most recently, Inside Recordings released the Joel Rafael Band's "Woodyboye: Songs Of Woody Guthrie (and tales worth telling), Vol. 2" on Apriil 26 licensed through Appleseed Recordings/Koch. –Bob Grossweiner and Jane Cohen
