TOKYO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Recording Industry Assoc. of Japan (RIAJ) is reporting a steep decline of 13% in the total production of physical audio music from January to November from the same period in the previous year. This translates into a decline in sales of 14% measured against the previous year.

A brighter note was sounded in the digital sales realm where sales were only off by 1% in volume, but saw a %4 uptick in value from these digital sales.

Japan, the second largest music market in world has been quick to shift to digital delivery and the RIAJ reported a 14% increase in PC downloads and a 6% increase in mobile downloads from the same period last year. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
