Jean Michel Jarre Concert At Huge Windmill Park In Denmark

DENMARK: He has performed spectacular concerts at the pyramids in Egypt and by the Eiffel Tower in Paris – next year in September the French sound and light artist Jean Michel Jarre will, if everything goes to plan, put on a big show in a park of windmills near the little town Sulsted close to Aalborg in Denmark.

The Jean Michel Jarre show will celebrate and coincide with the Danish EU-chairmanship in the second half of year 2002. Jean Michel Jarre himself suggested the windmill location as the place to put on the show which is meant to be the cultural climax of the chairmanship. It will cost nearly 25 million Danish kroner, and according to the news agency Ritzau, Henrik Shumann, from the windmill factory NEC Micon in Randers, says that there will be space for 50,000 listeners in the area around Sulsted.

Together with Muskelsvindfonden, the organizers of the yearly Green Concerts in Denmark, the windmill producer is now searching for sponsors who could be interested in turning the spectacular show concept into reality.

– Already now we have some very positive intimations from other companies, and the next one and a half months will show if it is possible to raise the necessary funds, says Henrik Shumann.
