Jerry Garcia Tribute Concert Planned


NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — On Thursday, May 14, the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD will host Dear Jerry: Celebrating The Music Of Jerry Garcia, a tribute concert to honor longtime Grateful Dead frontman Jerry Garcia.

The concert event will feature performances by: Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann's Billy & the Kids, Bob Weir, Bruce Hornsby, Buddy Miller, David Grisman, Eric Church, Greensky Bluegrass, Jimmy Cliff, Jorma Kaukonen, Los Lobos, Moe., O.A.R., Railroad Earth, The Disco Biscuits, Trampled By Turtles, Widespread Panic, Yonder Mountain String Band and Communion featuring Phil Lesh, Stu Allen, Grahame Lesh, Ross James, Alex Koford, and Jason Crosby. Additional performers will be announced in the coming weeks.

The concert will be filmed and recorded for multi-platform distribution throughout traditional and digital media.

The event was concieved by Keith Wortman, who is serving as the executive producer for the show with the Jerry Garcia family serving as co-producers. Grammy Award-winner Don Was will serve as music director, leading an all-star band backing the performers at the concerts taping.

"Whether playing in the Grateful Dead, his acoustic and bluegrass bands or his beloved Jerry Garcia Band, his songs made us happy just to be alive. As all of us in the extended Grateful Dead family embark on celebrating 50 years of their music, I can't think of a more fitting way to kick-off the festivities than by honoring Jerry and his songs at this extraordinary event.
