NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Joan Rivers daughter Melissa Rivers has released a statement updating the public on her mother's condition. Joan Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital on August 28th and is reportedly in critical condition after complications from throat surgery at a New York clinic.
"Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible," Melissa Rivers said in the statement released by the hospital.
"I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother," the statement added. "She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers."
Other sources have said that Rivers is in stable condition and a source told Us Magazine that Rivers had been placed in a medically induced coma.
Rivers performed at the Laurie Beechman Theatre the day before she became ill. Rivers is scheduled to appear in several shows, one at the Count Basie Theatre in Red Bank, NJ on August 29th, which has been canceled. Additional performances set for the Raymond Vineyards in St. Helena, CA on Sept. 20 and an October 2nd show in Cincinnati, OH are still on the books. – Staff Writers
