John Lomax III Returns To Artist Management

NASHVILLE, TN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Former manager John Lomax III has returned to artist management to manage Austin, Texas singer Sunny Sweeney.

"I haven't been this excited about a new artist since I first heard Kasey Chambers in February, 1996", Lomax said. "There's a baseball expression, 'he's a 5-tool guy.' Well Sunny's a 5-tool gal. She can write 'em, pick 'em, sing 'em, record 'em, then go out and perform 'em live."

The agreement encompasses management and publishing between Sweeney's Songs of Sunny (BMI) and Lomax's 3 Minute Movie Music (BMI). Prior to his 5 1/2 year stint managing Chambers, Lomax guided the careers of Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, The Cactus Brothers and "America's Dulcimer Champion" David Schnaufer. Since 2001 he has operated Roots Music Exporters, which specializes in selling hard-to-find, indie label CDs and DVDs to importers in Europe, Asia and Australia.

Discussions are ongoing with a Nashville label to re-release Sweeney's debut, Heartbreaker's Hall of Fame nationally. — Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
