Johnson Tapped As GM At Ernest N. Morial Convention Center

NEW ORLEANS (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Robert "Bob" Johnson has been named president and general manager of the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center in New Orleans. In addition, he is named executive vice president of the Ernest N. Morial New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority. He succeeds Jimmie Fore, who retired in April after 16 years of service.

Johnson, a 34-year veteran of the public assembly facility industry, returns to New Orleans after 10 years with SMG, where he headed the SMG corporate consultant division and coordinated pre-opening services for facilities that were in design or under construction. His duties included design review, program development, site analysis, value engineering and FF&E procurement.

Johnson served as general manager of the Superdome in New Orleans from 1985-95. He later served as manager of the University of New Orleans’ Lakefront Arena, where he oversaw the construction and opening of the venue.

"We’re incredibly excited to welcome Bob to the Authority and the Convention Center," said Warren Reuther, Jr., the Authority’s president. "His development expertise will be invaluable as we re-purpose Phase I to give New Orleans a distinct competitive advance in the pursuit of corporate and executive conferences and other corporate business events." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
