Join Us In Supporting Today's Net Neutrality Day of Action: Why The Entire Music Industry Must Act Now

(Hypebot) – Today, the world's biggest tech companies, millions of your peers and thousands of media outlets including Hypebot are joining in a Net Neutrality Day of Action. What does this have to do with music? D.I.Y. artists, indie labels, new music technologies and independent media will be unable to compete on an internet that has fast lanes and slows lanes. Put simply, the fight to save net neutrality is essential to the future of music creation, distribution and discovery.

Some want to dismiss today's Net Neutrality Day of Action as a battle between big corporations. "This is really a skirmish between two sets of crony capitalists," says David Lowery, "Telecoms/Cable on one side and the Google/Facebook/Silicon Valley ad-spying complex on the other."

Maybe so, but we don't care. Net neutrality affects us, the music we love and the businesses we are building.

"Personally, I could not imagine making music today, let alone reaching people who wanted to hear it, without the internet," wrote will Meyer for CASH Music.
