Katy Perry Will Judge American Idol 2.0

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) — Broadcaster ABC announced that pop princess Katy Perry would be one of the judges on its "American Idol" revival when it returns to television this fall.

Perry confirmed her participation in the singing talent show in a post via her social media. "SO thrilled @ABCNetwork is bringing back @AmericanIdol, and I'm bringing it back to the MUSIC see you at auditions," Perry tweeted.

The network has yet to announce the full slate of judges for the show, or who might host it. Ryan Seacrest, who made his name as the host of the show's first incarnation on Fox, stated that he'd be open to returning as host, though he has just recently started a stint as host of "Live with Kelly & Ryan" which is also on ABC.

ABC News also revealed that Fox, who originally broadcast "Idol" had been plotting its return. According to ABC, Fox wanted to wait for an "appropriate amount of time" and were eyeing a 2020 return, prompting the show's producer Fremantle Media, to shop the show elsewhere.

"Yes, it feels bad knowing it's coming back on another network," Fox Television Group CEO Dana Walden told ABC News.
