CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Grammy Award-winning blues singer Koko Taylor is recovering from a May 19th surgery to correct a gastrointestinal bleed.
The surgery was performed at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago and a spokesman for Taylor said that her doctors anticipate a full recovery.
The 80-year-old singer has been a major figure in blues for much of her career and has racked up an impressive collection of awards, including a Grammy, the prestigious NEA National Heritage Fellowship Award and 29th Blues Music Awards, more than any other artist.
Taylor has several upcoming dates on her calendar, including Auditorio Oscar Espla and the Getxo Festival in Spain on June 12 and 13 respectively; the Jubilee Jam in Jackson, MS on June 20 and the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival in New Brunswick, Canada on Sept 18. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
