Kurt Brown Named GM, Century Center


SOUTH BEND, IN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Kurt Brown has been named general manager of the 20,000-square foot Century Center, operated by Global Spectrum.

Brown will be responsible for the convention center's day-to-day operations, including booking and scheduling, marketing and sales, as well as all financial aspects. Brown previously was assistant general manager of the Global Spectrum-managed Overland Park Convention Center in Overland Park, KS. Prior to being named assistant GM at Overland Park, Brown was the convention center's director of Sales and Marketing.

"Kurt brings an incredible amount of experience and leadership skills with him to South Bend," said Global Spectrum Chief Operating Officer John Page. "We are confident that Kurt will help the City of South Bend in making the Century Center an attractive, must-visit venue for conventioneers, exhibitors and show organizers."

Brown is a hospitality industry professional with more than 30 years of experience; he joined Global Spectrum at the Overland Park Convention Center in 2003. Prior to joining Global Spectrum, he opened the Sheraton Overland Park Hotel at the Convention Center as director of Sales and Marketing. Prior to his work in the Kansas City area, Brown was the vice president of Convention Sales at the Greater Lansing Convention and Visitors Bureau in Lansing, MI. He was also the director of Sales and Marketing at the Hilton Novi in Novi, MI. Previous to this, Brown spent 18 years (1977-1995) with the Marriott Corporation working primarily in Food & Beverage and Sales positions. — Jane Cohen and Bob Grossweiner
