(CelebrityAccess MediaWire) –Frank Lapsley has been selected as the new general manager of the Cabarrus County-owned Cabarrus Arena and Events Center. Lapsley, who was selected jointly by Cabarrus County and SMG, has more than 15 years' experience in facility management.
Most recently he served as director of operations for the Arena at Harboryard in Bridgeport, Conn. He also has managed Teco Arena, New Haven Coliseum, Mullins Convocation Center and North Charleston Coliseum.
The Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners has contracted with SMG, a private facility management firm, to oversee the Cabarrus Arena and Events Center in an effort to cut operating losses, to streamline operations, to provide a national marketing reach and to enhance potential profit centers, such as food service.
SMG is based in Philadelphia and operates numerous facilities nationwide, including facilities situated along the East Coast and in the South. This close proximity to sister facilities may increase the likelihood of attracting larger events and entertainment acts. –by CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
