MIAMI (CelebrityAccess) — Lil Wayne's beachfront mansion in Florida was raided by Miami-Dade police on Tuesday after the rapper stopped making payments on a leased jet.
According to the Miami Herald, police raided the 15,101-square-foot house on La Gorce Island in Miami Beach, and searched through his possessions.
“The process took several hours,” said Alvaro Zabaleta, a police spokesperson told the Miami Herald.
Court documents obtained by the Herald showed that Wayne — whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter — had in September stopped making the $55,000 a month payments on a Gulfstream II twin engine business jet he had leased from Miami-based Signature Group.
Signature provided an affidavit from a real estate agent to the court on Oct. 30th, which attested that there were assets inside of Wayne's home, leading a judge to grant a warrant for the raid and allow Signature's attorneys to enter the property.
Police released little information regarding what was taken from the home, the Herald said. Wayne was reportedly in Los Angeles at the time of the raid. – Staff Writers
