Linda's Doll Hut, the Anaheim, Calififornia music club known for nurturing up-and-coming bands such as the Offspring, is shuttering its doors after a 12-year run. For the past three years business has gone south.
"When I went into this," Jemison told the L.A. Times, "my intention was to help change the reputation of promoters, because I had enough bad experiences when I was playing in bands. I think maybe I did that. Now there are promoters like Mike [Concepcion] at the Gypsy Lounge and Craig McGahey at Club Mesa, and they're doing a great job and getting a lot of loyalty from the bands, which can make or break a club."
Jemison will now turn her attention to band management. She is already managing alternative group Wonderlove and singer-songwriter Jay Buchanan, frequent performers at the club. She is also promoting the July 7 Hootenanny roots-rock festival in Irvine.
