The Dixie Chicks' "Top of the World" tour kicks off May 1 at the Bi Lo center in Greenville, SC, but according to MSNBC.COM, tour sponsor Lipton is not sure it will be involved in the tour. Unilever Bestfoods’
Lipton won’t confirm whether the iced tea brand is still the title sponsor of the country music group’s tour.
Lipton VP of Corporate Affairs, Paul Wood, was noncommittal on Lipton's continued association with the Dixie Chicks. According to advertising trades, Lipton has shot new commercials without the Dixie Chicks to use if the sponsorship is dropped.
“We’re not going to talk about our marketing plans,” Wood said Friday, April 25. “The first concert is May 1, we’ll know then. When that concert opens, there will be some information.”
And so the furor continues to rage on over Natalie Maines' comment about being "ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas."
