Live Nation Averts Theatrical Strike

LIVERPOOL (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Live Nation has managed to head off a strike at Edinburgh Playhouse, Bristol Hippodrome and Empire Theatre in Liverpool after they brokered a new deal with technical staff at those venues to increase their pay by 3%.

The dispute has been ongoing since April and after negotiations failed to arrive at a resolution last month, staff at the three theatres voted in favor of a strike, Stage News reported. The strike would have affected a number of theatrical productions, including Beauty & The Beast, Mary Poppins and dates by the touring English National Ballet.

The pay increase will bring the affected staff in line with British Theatrical Management Association wage guidelines and will be retroactive from January to compensate for the shortfall. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
