Live Nation & Bowery Presents Look To Philly

PHILADELPHIA, PA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Rock fans in Philadelphia are set to get not just one, but potentially two major new venues in the The City of Brotherly Love.

New York-based promoter Bowery Presents is on track to open a club and has leased a large space at 1026 Spring Garden St., the location of the former Spaghetti Warehouse. Bowery is still in the process of applying for licenses, but hopes to have the location open this fall.

The club, – reportedly to be named Union Transfer – will have a capacity upwards of 800 patrons and will likely be competing with established Philly venues such as the Trocadero.

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Bowery Presents is partnering with Sean Agnew and R5 Presents, a local promoter in the venture. R5 has a solid reputation in the market and have been looking to expand their horizons.

Also hoping to open in the market is Live Nation's 3,000-capacity, 7,600-square-foot House of Blues outlet in the Waterfront district. According to the Inquirer, the deal has been two years in the making and still requires approval from the city council, with completion hinging on negotiations over a parking lot. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
