Live Nation Lands Olympic Concert Deal


LONDON (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Boris Johnson, the mayor of London has approved a contract that will give Live Nation the free use of the city's Hyde and Victoria parks as concert venues in exchange for operating Olympic screens in the city.

The deal stipulates that Live Nation build and operate video screens in the two parks as well as Trafalgar Square to allow Londoners to see the 2012 Olympic Games events and performances without cost.

In exchange for running the screens, Live Nation will be allowed to stage 12 commercial concerts before the Games as well as receiving £100,000 in in-kind marketing support from the city. London has also agreed to provide gratis police services for the free public events.

Included in the agreement are rights for both the Hard Rock Calling and Wireless Festival, staged in Hyde Park as well as "commercial, Olympic-related concerts at key moments (Countdown Celebration, Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony) at Hyde Park." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
