SÖLVESBORG, Sweden (CelebrityAccess) — Live Nation Sweden announced that they have acquired a majority stake in Sweden Rock Festival – one of Sweden's most successful and longest running festivals.
The acquisition is one of the latest in a string of plays for Live Nation in the European live music sector that includes the acquisition of Encore Amsterdam, the launch of Lollapalooza in Paris and talks to acquire UK promoter Metropolis Music.
Martin Forssman, Head Promotor at Sweden Rock Festival, said of the deal: "The live entertainment industry is moving more and more towards few, large companies booking artists for shows in many countries and during long periods of time. In that environment, a cooperation with Live Nation is the ultimate way forward for us."
According to Live Nation, they don't plan on changing a winning formula for Sweden Rock. The company behind Sweden Rocks will continue with the same staff and management, and the current promoter team will continue booking the artists, Live Nation said. As well, Sweden Rock team will remain at its headquarters in Sölvesborg.
Dates for coming festivals stand firm; the festival will – as usual – take place during four days in June, two weekends before midsummer – which for 2017 means June 7-10th.
Aerosmith is the first band that has been announced for Sweden Rock Festival 2017. Additional details regarding the lineup for 2017 will be announced on November 24th when tickets go on sale. – Staff Writers
