Live Nation To Acquire Old National Centre In Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (CelebrityAccess) — Live Nation Entertainment has reportedly struck a deal to buy the Old National Centre at 502 N. New Jersey St. in Indianapolis from the Shriner's Murat Temple Association.

Originally opened in 1909 as a center for the Shriners in Indianapolis, Live Nation has been operating the 2,600-capacity theater since 1995. Originally known as the Murat Theatre, the building is the largest Shrine temple in the U.S. The building includes three performance spaces, The Murat Theatre, Egyptian Room and Deluxe.

William Rasner of the Murat Shriners told The Indianapolis Star that the organization had not considered selling the building until Live Nation approached them with an offer.

"We have known for many years that our facility has been much larger than we needed," Rasner said in an email to The Indianapolis Star. "After much consideration, it was decided that we should move forward, ultimately reaching an agreement with Live Nation."

A repo from Live Nation told the Indianapolis Business Journal that the sale must be approved by the Shriners International.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
