LN Eyes BC For A Major New Festival

PEMBERTON, BC (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — British Columbia may be getting a major new summer festival if Shane Bourbonnais has his way.

According to local newspaper The Whistler Question, Bourbonnais is working on an event at the end of July that would bring performers such as Coldplay and Tom Petty to Pemberton for a three day camper. Bourbonnais is the president of touring and business development for Live Nation and he makes an annual fishing trip to Lagara islands and the area caught his eye for festival potential. Now the event is pending on approval from local officials before he can start to put his plan into action.

"I feel confident that we’re going to get the news we’re looking for and build an incredible event," Bourbonnais said. "We’ve just got this one last approval that we need and if that one comes favourably we'll be coming to Pemberton… this summer."

While approval from the city elders is vital, Bourbonnais would still need to get numerous other entities to sign off on the plan, including the RCMP and the Ministry of Transport – that's a lot of bureaucracy to clear in 5 months. Still, even if the festival doesn't happen this year, Bourbonnais says that Live Nation won't abandon its plans.

"If there’s a problem, we have all the infrastructure built for '09." Bourbonnais told the Questioner. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
