London Brixton Fridge To Re-Open

LONDON (VIP-NEWS) — South London's Brixton Fridge will re-open June 19 as a live music venue after it was closed in January for extensive refurbishment.

The venue has been fitted with a new sound system, which will be used as part of a music course for students training in Live Sound at the Alchema College of Audio Engineering. This new partnership has also seen Alchema build two classrooms within the venue.

Alan 'Nobby' Hopkinson, best known for his work with Tool, Rage Against the Machine and Joan Armatrading, has been brought on board as head of live sound, while House of Mercy remains booking agent and promoter for live events at the Fridge.

The 1,100-capacity venue will re-open with the launch of Feed Me Music's "Messin' Up the Weekend" night, featuring emerging talent Suzerain, My Preserver, Harry Lee, Harrison Hope and Capelle.

The Fridge opened in 1981 and was moved to its current location in 1985, however it has been 15 years since the venue hosted live music events.
