lonelygirl15 Co-Creator Joins UTA

LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Greg Goodfried, one of the creators of the lonelygirl15 series of viral videos, has been announced as the latest to sign on with United Talent as an agent.

Goodfried's role at UTA will be to help the agency expand their digital offerings and to devise new revenue streams for the company's clients through digital media.

Goodfried, who, along with filmmaker Miles Beckett and screenwriter/filmmaker Mesh Flinders, launched the series of viral videos that would become known as lonelygirl15 in 2006. The videos potrayed an evolving cast of characters in a complex storyline via video blogs and other seemingly amateur web videos that were not initially revealed to be fictional. The fictional element to the story was finally exposed in 2008 to much media attention when viewers recognized one of the actresses in the videos as American-New Zealand actress Jessica Rose.

The success of the lonelygirl15 videos led Goodfried and Beckett to co-found EQAL, a venture-backed startup that aimed at creating web video content that would transition to television. In 2011, the company changed focus, offering services tailored at creating social media networks around celebrities such as TyPennington.com and Jwoww.com site built for Jenni Fairly and in 2012, the company was acquired by health-focused digital media company Everyday Health.

Before helping to launch the lonelygirl15 series, Goodfried got his start as an entertainment attorney at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp, LLP. – Staff Writers
