Lupe Fiasco Removed From Stage After 40 Minute Anti-War/Anti-Obama Song

WASHINGTON D.C. (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Rapper Lupe Fiasco was halted in mid-performance and escorted off stage during a pre-inauguration concert Sunday night, after a long anti-war song that included anti-Obama lyrics.

“Lupe Fiasco just got thrown off stage here at the Hamilton Live after he went on an anti-Obama diatribe mid set,” Josh Rogin, a reporter with Foreign Policy magazine wrote via twitter.

According to Rogin, Lupe performed the anti-war song for approximately 30 minutes, telling the crowd that he "didn't vote for Obama." Then, when Lupe was eventually told to move to the next song, he refused and security escorted him from stage.

"Lupe refused to move to the next song so a team of security guards came on stage and told him to go," Rogin added.

In a statement, event organizers denied that Lupe was removed from the stage for his anti-Obama views, but for the length of the one song her performed.

"Lupe Fiasco performed at this private event, and as you may have read, he left the stage earlier than we had planned. But Lupe Fiasco was not “kicked off stage” for an “anti-Obama rant.” We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech. This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act. Lupe Fiasco repeated the one song for more than 40 minutes," a spokesman for the concert's organizers Startup Rockon said in a press release.
