Luther Burbank Center Damaged In Wildfire, Cancels Performances

SANTA ROSA, CA (CelebrityAccess) — While firefighters battle a series of deadly wildfires across Northern California's wine country, one of the areas landmark performance spaces reported that it has suffered heavy damage in a blaze.

On Tuesday, the Luther Burbank Center for the Arts in Santa Rosa said it would be canceling all performances through Sunday, October 15th.

While representatives from the venue were unable to access the site, they reported on Twitter that the California Highway Patrol said the main building has suffered minor damage, while classrooms and the east end of the campus have been destroyed.

"The staff of Left Edge Theatre is safe, but we’re still waiting on (sic) status of our beloved theatre," a rep for the venue tweeted on Tuesday.

The region has suffered considerable damage from the fire. In addition to the Luther Burbank, a Hilton hotel and a retirement community were completely destroyed. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection said early Tuesday that they hope to make some progress in battling the 20,000-acre blaze with improving weather conditions.
