Mariah Carey Has Vocal Trouble During Tour Opener

TOKYO (CelebrityAccess) — Mariah Carey appeared to have a rough night with her October 4th tour opener at Tokyo's Makuhari Messe Arena, with the singer seeming to have some vocal trouble.

In videos posted of the performance Carey appears to struggle with hitting notes. She also appeared to be distracted with a malfunctioning mic stand that caused her to lose track of where she was in a song.

Carey is touring in support of her latest album "Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse", which has thus far, not measured up to the success of some of her previous albums. The album, released in May, only moved 58,000 copies in its first week and and dropped off of the Billboard 200 after just 8 weeks. According to Billboard, the album had only sold 103,000 as of August, 2014.

Carey is next set to play at Yokohama Arena on Oct. 6th before she heads to South Korea for a show at Seoul's Olympic Park. Additional dates for Carey stretch into November throughout Asia and Australia. As of the time of publication, Carey has no announced dates for North America. – Staff Writers
