MassConcerts Buys The Worcester Palladium

WORCESTER, MA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — After years of booking shows at the venue John Peters' MassConcerts has purchased the Worcester Palladium for $1.48 million.

The venue, which plays a major role in the punk and metal scene in New England, was oringinally a movie house built in 1928 but was recast as a performing arts center in 1900. In 1990, it was purchased by John Fischer and John Sousa, who ultimately sold the venue to MassConcerts.

“He deserves the building,” Mr. Fischer, told the Worcester Telegram & Gazette. “He's the guy that's been keeping it open for years."

According to the Telegram & Gazette, the property has been on the block for three years and although there have been several interested parties, none of the potential deals came to fruition.

MassConcerts is a well-known promoter in the Northeast, and promotes more than 200 shows a year in the region. In addition to the Palladium, MassConcerts also owns and operates the Webster Theater in Hartford and the Hippodrome in Springfield, Mass. Upcoming shows at the Palladium include The Almost on Jan. 15th and Testament on Feb. 16 – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
