Mastodon's Brent Hinds Hospitalized After Attack At the MTV VMA's

LAS VEGAS (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Brent Hinds, the guitarist for Atlanta-based band Mastodon, is in a Las Vegas hospital with what the band’s management calls a “severe” head injury. The incident that led to the injury took place sometime after the MTV Video Music Awards Sunday night. The group had performed in the Foo Fighters' suite with Queens Of The Stone Age frontman Josh Homme guesting, but only a few seconds of the pairing was broadcast during the VMA’s.

According to the band’s manager, Nick John, Hinds’ nose was broken and he suffered two black eyes, MTV.com reports.

Officials said Hinds is expected to make a full recovery.

John told MTV.com that Hinds was injured around 3 a.m. Monday morning after the band finished a guest spot in the Foo Fighters’ suite during the VMAs at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

There are several unsubstantiated rumors circulating on the Internet that claim Hinds was attacked. John would not discuss what led to Hinds’ injuries.

MTV.com quoted John as saying Hinds, “doesn’t recall much (about the incident.)”
