Merriweather Post Pavilion Announces Golden Anniversary Concert

COLUMBIA, Md., (CelebrityAccess) — As a part of their 50th anniversary celebration, Merriweather Post Pavilion has announced a show featuring some of the venue's most popular past performers.

The show, set for July 15th, will feature a lineup headlined by Jackson Browne, Willie Nelson and Father John Misty, with singer and actress Grace Potter serving as a host for the festivities.

Browne's association with the venue dates back decades to when he recorded the title track from his best-selling album “Running On Empty” live at the pavilion on August 27, 1977. He also recorded the album's closer "Stay" during the same concert.

As for Nelson, the show will mark his 14th appearance at the venue, including a memorable moment in 1980 when President Jimmy Carter surprised fans when he joined Willie on stage to sing a duet of “Georgia.”

News of the concert comes after the venue underwent an extensive round of upgrades and the recent announcement of a long-term lease agreement with promoter I.M.P. who will continue to book the amphitheater. – Staff Writers
