Michael Klefner Dies From Heart Attack

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Industry veteran and long-time label exec Michael Klefner died following a heart attack on July 14 at the age of 62.

According to Billboard, Klefner got his start in the industry work at the legendary Fillmore East under the guidance of Bill Graham.

Klefner soon moved into the label side of the business, working in the album promotion division at Columbia Records before joining Clive Davis at Arista where he was an early hire.

Klefner joined Atlanta Records where he met John Belushi and Dan Ackroyd during their Blues Brothers period, and often was known to work the door at their Tribeca afterhours club, Billboard said.

Klefner's memorial service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the Riverside Memorial Chapel in New York City. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
