CHICAGO (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — MSG has announced that they have closed the deal for the historic Chicago Theatre, located in downtown Ch-town, for an undisclosed price.
The deal had been announced in October of last year but has finally closed as MSGE acquires the theatre from Theatre Dreams Chicago, LLC. The Chicago Theatre will be MSGE's fifth venue, joining their other properties – Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, The Beacon Theatre, and the WaMu Theater at MSG.
"The acquisition of The Chicago Theatre allows us to further expand our presence in live entertainment management geographically, with one of the most revered and historic venues in the country. Our plan is to continue to seek creative opportunities and utilize the unique strength of our brands to grow our business beyond its traditional boundaries." said Cablevision's Hank J. Ratner, in a statement.
According to a report in Billboard, MSGE is looking to expand the Chicago's offerings to 140 events in the coming year, a 40 percent increase over 2007. They are also looking to broaden the scope of events at the theatre to include more theatrical and family-oriented programming. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
