SUN CITY WEST (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Maricopa County Events Center will shutter on December 31st, ending a three-year pact between Maricopa County and Nederlander Concerts to try to revitalize the PAC.
According to the Daily News-Sun, the 7,034-seat facility will revert to Arizona State University, who had managed the event center prior to the 2005 pact which brought Nederlander aboard.
Entertainment featured at the Events Center included performances by major touring artists such as Engelbert Humperdinck, touring Broadway shows such as "Rent" along with with regional and community events.
"It is a sad day. Once again we are witnessing the performing arts fall victim to a troubled economy," Maricopa County Supervisor Max Wilson told the Daily News-Sun "Nederlander has been a great partner as we attempted to keep this venue alive." – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
